Most everyone who comes to the area enjoys visiting this one-of-a-kind gift shop filled with souvenirs, gifts, delicious foods, and of course, GOATS!??? Yep!!! Real live goats!. These are friendly little fellows who actually live on the roof of the building. It's fun to watch them run to and fro! They are especially exciting for young children who love to giving them a friendly little "pat" on the head. coaster at goats on the roof - say what???So, what's going on here exactly? Why are goats living on the roof? How does a high-flying Mountain Coaster fit in? Well, let me tell ya! It began in the 1970's in Door County, Wisconsin. A fellow by the name of Al Johnson was widely known for having goats on the roof at his Swedish Restaurant. The owners of our establishment here in Pigeon Forge had the desire to stay faithful to these original alpine roots and put goats on their roof! When people from all over the world started to come to see these fine animals trot back and forth across the roof, they wanted to try another venture, so the idea of building a mountain coaster burst forth! So now you ask...What's a Mountain Coaster? A coaster in the mountains, perhaps? Maybe! It's a track carrying sleds. Each of these sleds hold one or two passengers. After a few safety instructions your sled will climb to the top of the track. Now you're going to allow gravity to take over as you plunge 4,375 feet down the track filled with winds and turns that are giving you the thrill of your life! You have complete control of the brakes so you decide how fast as you go. You may choose to fly down the mountain at nearly 30 mph, or simply move at a turtle's pace. It's all up to you. The Coaster at Goats on the Roof is fun for every member of the family! It's a smooth seven-minute ride, however, the level of wildness depends upon you, or that "crazy" kid you put into the driver's seat! As in all thrill rides, The Coaster at Goats on the Roof does have safety regulations. You must be at least 16 years old and 5'4" tall to drive a sled carrying a passenger. Height requirements are 3'1" minimum. The maximum height is 7 feet tall. Maximum weight for this ride is 375 pounds. So now you have it!!!
