biltmore house and gardens

Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville, North Carolina is one of the state's most beautiful attractions.  It was built more than a century ago by George Washington Vanderbilt who earned his wealth through steamboats, railroads, and various business enterprises.  The 250 room castle, constructed in 1895, is said to be the largest privately owned home in the United States.

As soon as you step inside, it's as though you've magically transformed into another time in history. The architecture of this impressive chateau is simply amazing.  Each and every room is filled with the most lovely antiques and relics of the 1800's.  Unique features include indoor plumbing which was virtually unheard of at this time in history, and a beautiful indoor swimming pool.

North Carolina's Beautiful Biltmore House and Gardens is a great place to visit.

The gardens and grounds that surround this exquisite estate are truly a lovely site to see!  Architect Fredrick Law Olmsted, who was America's foremost landscape architect laid down some of his best work at Biltmore House and Gardens.  As a result, we may now enjoy the beauty of the Italian Garden, the first managed forest in the USA, and many other lush landscapes.

The grounds and buildings of Biltmore Estate have appeared in a number of major motion pictures and TV series:

Tap Roots (1948)The Swan (1956)The Pruitts of Southampton (1966)Being There (1979)The Private Eyes, (1994) Ritchie Rich  (1980)A Breed Apart (1984)Mr. Destiny (1990)The Last of the Mohicans (1992) Serafina and The Black Cloak (2015)
